The KNUST E-Learning Centre held a three-day digital skills training programme for members of the International Students Association (ISA) at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi (KNUST).
The training was organised at the request of the International Students Association (ISA) executives, who chose to use part of their vacation to learn practical digital skills that will help them in school, work, and beyond campus.
The session was on graphic design, photography, web development, and digital marketing. Students were grouped into specialist tracks and took part in practical sessions each day.
The programme formed part of efforts by the KNUST E-Learning Centre to support students with digital skills for academic work, communication, and online workspaces. The sessions combined technical training with career support activities.
Students in the graphic design track studied visual design principles, typography, colour theory, branding, logo design, and poster creation using Adobe and Canva tools. The photography group covered camera basics, lighting techniques, editing tools, and portfolio presentation.
Participants in the web development track learned HTML, CSS, responsive layouts, JavaScript, and website deployment. The digital marketing group focused on social media strategy, search engine optimisation, email marketing, campaign planning, and analytics.
The programme also included general sessions for all groups. These sessions covered CV writing, proposal writing, budgeting, timelines, and presentation skills. Participants later presented revised CVs, project ideas, and campaign concepts during the closing sessions.
The final day included portfolio reviews, design challenges, photography field work, project presentations, and networking sessions. The training ended with a closing ceremony for participants and facilitators.
Facilitators for the programme included Samuel Selorm Anane Avotri for website development, Clement Akanborige for graphic design, Joseph Robert Amponsah and Dennis Tandoh for photography, and Francis Frimpoong Boateng and Nana Adwoa for digital marketing. Career Services also supported the CV and proposal writing sessions.
The KNUST E-Learning Centre has continued to organise digital learning and skills development programmes for students across the university community.
